Tanuki Stories is a project founded by Marco Fasano, an Italian tour guide based in Japan, with the goal of offering authentic and meaningful travel experiences. Through cultural tours, articles, and videos, Tanuki Stories tells the story of Japan from an insider’s perspective, connecting places, traditions, and spirituality in an accessible and engaging way.
Marco lives in Japan with his Japanese wife and is a constant student of the Japanese language and culture, learning both through academic study and real-life experience. With a background in marketing and sales and ten years spent living in New Zealand, he brings an international, empathetic approach to communication, tailored to Western audiences.
Active in three languages (Italian, English, and Japanese), Tanuki Stories reaches thousands of readers and viewers each month through the blog, tours, and YouTube channel. The project was recently featured by CNN Travel for its contribution to spreading Japanese culture.
Mission: To help people discover Japan authentically, ensuring that every journey leaves not only unforgettable photos but also a deeper understanding of the country and its people.
